The Theory of the Wait

A space where the announcement doesn’t match the timing.

Where there is the tantalizing of your expectations, but a discord in your reality.

Where faith clashes with trust and fear; and sadly in the early moments of the wait,

fear tends to win

The wait is preparation that is hidden under the guise of situations

This space can be suffocating enough that it feels insufficient to sustain oxygenation

It can be depleting enough to snuff out hope.

The wait invites tension;

it’s like a stretched-out rubber band - you need the strength for the stretch

but the endurance to maintain the position

As your faith is tested, your trust is refined, and your understanding is questioned -

Is your faith theoretical or factual?

Is the promise just inspiration, or have you attained the vision to perceive

what is promised?

The wait challenges your habitual need for comfort, hence the tension.

The tension is a masterpiece for it is enough to push you,

It is present enough to disrupt your desire to remain where you are meant to vacate.

It has no regard for urgency but is pedantic about quality.

Maybe instead of asking, why the wait, ask, “What am I waiting for?”

Who am I becoming while I wait?

Maybe instead of vilifying the wait, look for the plow, tiling the soil of your heart

Look for the seeds and the living water.

Look for the Grace poured out in abundance for the wait.

Maybe instead of expecting the worst, recycling pain, frustration, and disappointment,

recycle your testimonies.

What would happen if you are convinced that He is good?

He is on your side. His promises are not just words but are trustworthy.

Is it a loss to believe or a greater loss to not believe?

What would happen if you were intentional about trusting me?

That’s all I am asking.

Trust me. I have always been for you.

I am not here to trick you, to create pain only to utilize it.

I am not wicked, I am faithful.

I never left. Your turmoil matters to me. Peace, I give you peace.

There’s always a gap between the promise and the fulfillment of the promise.

Faith is an anchor by which our hope draws the unseen to the real world

Praise and faith are our strategies for giving birth to the promise.

Rather than rushing to the hill, study the valley;

For what you allow to be shed, pruned, and watered in the valley, determines the impact

on the hill

So while waiting, be intentional about seeking the Keeper of your heart

Be the clay, let the Potter create.
